I designed this sensorial interactive story book for children, featuring two characters- Piggy and Piggy Ghost.
The book is created in a way that it has no specific order in pages with cut out holes in each page. The two characters can travel through pages using cut out holes in the caves, ponds, bushes, etc. Readers are encouraged to be creative and complete Piggy's adventure with their own imagination. Some may built the story around Piggy's dad who have past away, or the story can be told from a dead city pigs' perspective, warning the country pig not to visit the city. The book allows lots of freedom in storyline and readers can create a new storyline every time they revisit this book. It turns the usual one-way story telling experience into a fun and two-way story building time both kids and parents can enjoy contributing to.
This book is haptic and sensorial. It is made with a few materials with various textures. The fronts are made in watercolored waxed plywood, stitched with a soft to touch hand felted merino backing. The woollen felted backs are in a different base colour for each page - red, blue, yellow, teal and green. Teachers and parents can utilise this book to teach kids basic colours.
